Let me share my more than 25 years of local knowledge on Pine Island sound
with you. I spend over 250 days a year on the water and specialize
in light tackle live bait sport fishing for Snook, redfish and tarpon.
Pine Island is the largest island on the west coast of Florida, just
15-20 minutes from Cape Coral, 30 minutes from Ft. Myers and one hour
from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Pine Island's
secluded, quaint and "country waterfront" atmosphere is a huge part of
its charm. Fringed with mangroves rather than white sand beaches, Pine
Island has escaped the concrete, blacktop and skyscrapers found in the
more touristy, beachy communities. Current legislation prohibits high
density, high-rise development in the foreseeable future . . . designed
to preserve our unique, rural island heritage for generations to come.
Come and enjoy some of Florida's best sport fishing or let me take you
on a shelling trip, dolphin watching or on a eco tour, I serve all of
the areas around Ft. Myers, Sanibel and Captiva.

This redfish was taken on a live pinfish
fishing docks on the out going tide, It
measured 48 inches and weighed 32 pounds
That puts it well over the slot size of
18-27 inches, It was released unharmed after
a quick picture to fight again. |
| Pine
Island sound bull redfish are one of the
hardest fighting fish pound for pound in our
area. They stay down and slug it out. |

Below is my new boat, a custom 22-2 1969 classic Aquasport flatback. I
spent more than 15 months totally rebuilding the boat using only the
finest materials and rigging components available . The boat is powered
by a 2011 175 Mercury Pro XS outboard mounted on a Porta lift for super
shallow water operation. She is extremely dry, smooth and comfortable
yet can easily operate in a foot of water. In my opinion she is the
ultimate SWFL guide boat. Contact Capt Matt Mitchell to learn more about
scheduling a adventure..
